Whether you hold a learner licence, a probationary licence or a full driving licence, you are legally required to obtain valid Third-Party Motorcycle Insurance. Moreover, you have to declare the usage of your motocycle (for private use such as private and leisure activities, or for business use such as food delivery) when applying for an insurance policy.
Most of the Third-Party Liability Motorcycle Insurance policies provide two types of protections:
(i) cover for legal liability for bodily injury or death to a third party in the event of an accident, the minimum coverage required by law is HK$100,000,000;
(ii) cover for accidental property damage to a third party, although it is not a legal requirment, some insurers may offer coverage of HK $750,000.
The make, model, year and performance of your motorcycle; and the driving record, driving experience, age, occupation, No Claim Discount (NCD), claims record and traffic conviction record of all named drivers will be considered when calculating your Motocycle Insurance premium.
